🌳🤝 Hello Burntwood! We might be a few days late in sharing this update, but wonderful community moments are always worth celebrating—no matter the date!

Last week, on Thursday, July 30th, our beloved Princes Park—which our volunteers here at Burntwood Action so proudly look after—was chosen as the focal point for a very special local event marking the United Nations’ International Day of Friendship.

The talented members of the Burntwood Women’s Institute (WI) brought a wonderful splash of color and spirit to the park. They decorated our green spaces with a beautiful, creative display of handcrafted hands made by their members, highlighting the importance of friendship right here on our doorstep.

Judy Griffiths, Secretary of the Burntwood WI, beautifully captured the spirit of the initiative: “Today is International Day of Friendship and we thought it would be a lovely way to celebrate that at our local park and invite the community to join us.”

It was also fantastic to see Cllr Sue Woodward, Chair of Burntwood Town Council, showing her support. She perfectly summed up the impact of the WI’s efforts, noting that the group has a real knack for “taking international issues and translating them into local action in our little corner of the world to raise awareness and to bring joy to Prince’s Park via their display.”

We want to send a massive thank you to the Burntwood WI for choosing Princes Park for this lovely occasion. Seeing the park brightened up with such a joyful display and watching the community come together is exactly why we at Burntwood Action do what we do.
