How will national and global environmental shifts impact our day-to-day lives in Staffordshire? What does the latest evidence mean for our food supplies, the cost of living, our health, and local infrastructure?

An upcoming event right on our doorstep aims to tackle these exact questions, and we want to encourage our entire community to take part.
On Thursday, 29th October, a free public screening of The People’s Emergency Briefing will take place at the Burntwood Memorial Institute.
About the Film
Backed by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham CBE, The People’s Emergency Briefing is a hard-hitting, 50-minute documentary featuring leading British scientists and experts. Rather than presenting abstract global forecasts, the briefing connects the dots between environmental changes and the practical realities facing UK communities. It is designed to be accessible, informative, and grounded in current scientific consensus.
Why Burntwood Needs to Be in the Room
The film itself is only half the event. Following the screening, the floor will open for a community-wide discussion exploring the findings through a local lens:
- What are the specific vulnerabilities and opportunities for Burntwood?
- How can residents, community networks, and local leadership collaborate on practical responses?
- Local councillors have been invited, offering a direct platform for residents to make their voices heard.
Constructive community action relies on informed, active participation. You don’t need to be an expert to attend—every local voice, perspective, and concern adds value to the conversation.
