Today, the streets of Burntwood didn’t just carry traffic; they carried the heart and soul of a community. 500 of us stood shoulder to shoulder—grandparents, neighbours, and friends—to draw a line in the soil.

January 18th, 2026, is now cemented in our history. It’s the day we proved that while developers have money, we have the numbers.

The Burntwood Five Hundred Poem

Five hundred boots on the Coulter Lane, Five hundred voices, one refrain. Through winter’s chill and the morning grey, We marched to keep the concrete away.

The cameras rolled as the marchers came, To save our heritage, protect our name. No “Grey Belt” myth, no urban sprawl, Could break the strength of the Burntwood wall.

From the Nags Head gate to the Church’s spire, We’ve lit a bright community fire. For the peace we find in the open air, And the rural soul that we all share.

The owls will hoot and the lapwings fly, Beneath a quiet and tranquil sky. For history’s written by those who stand, The Burntwood Five Hundred—protectors of land.
