The video in this post is worth a watch if you haven’t already seen it.
“Houses should not be built where infrastructure isn’t sufficient enough.” – Housing Secretary.
Words of agreement from the government, but are their actions matching up?
This video highlights the reality: a system that now accelerates applications (often where houses would pass on appeal anyway), sometimes overriding local concerns about consultation (assuming local residents have been consulted) and suitability. It proves the power of the Local Plan—which the Housing Secretary states is the core mechanism for identifying the right places to build.
Our Message to LDC is clear: Deliver the Local Plan, let’s see a new settlement solve our local problems.
We need development that serves the needs of new and existing residents:
✅ Urban areas
✅ Good commuting links
✅ Existing or planned supporting infrastructure (schools, GPs, roads)
❌ Not small towns on country lanes.
This isn’t about blocking homes; it’s about planning them properly.
