Yes! The appeal for the 132 Derbyshire homes refused by the council (our post last week) has been thrown out again by the Planning Inspector due to design flaws. A definite win for the community and sensible planning! 🎉

BUT, the real story here is the alarming lack of technical scrutiny from our local authorities.

It came to light that Yorkshire Water and Derbyshire County Council’s highways and flood teams had both raised NO OBJECTIONS, even after the County Council’s flood team initially voiced concerns!

These teams are supposed to be our technical safeguard against poor developments. If they’re not raising essential technical objections (on flooding, traffic, etc.), developments that should be stopped on these grounds are being pushed through!

This suggests immense pressure on planning to build at all costs, potentially overriding critical safety and infrastructure checks. We need answers as to why these technical departments aren’t doing their job to properly protect our communities and to ensure that extra checks will be taking place for applications submitted by Bloors and Cameron.
