A big thank you to all who commented on our post about the Bloor Homes sponsorship of the Lichfield Proms! We’ve been listening. Lichfield Live has now weighed in with a post featuring the council’s response, confirming their stance that the sponsorship will not affect planning decisions.

Martyn Rowley a Burntwood resident made his own comment this morning [tongue in cheek of course]:

Ah yes, nothing says ‘community spirit’ quite like a free concert funded by developers with a keen interest in reshaping that very community. How reassuring to hear that planning and green belt decisions, those tiny matters affecting the future of our environment, are ‘entirely separate’ from the generous sponsorships. I’m sure the champagne in the VIP tent will taste even better knowing it’s all strictly above board. Looking forward to the music, and the bulldozers that follow!

Cllr Sue Woodward also commented on Lichfield Live:

Perception is everything here and if residents suspect a conflict of interest, it will be very difficult to counter this view.

This is no way to treat residents and it’s no way to treat our members who already have a difficult enough job.
